A Day: 

Honors (Pre-AP) Biology: 
  • Thurs., 1/5: We will review objectives for the second semester as well as discuss some changes that might need to be made (ex: study skills).  We begin this semester with our last chapter on the cell, Chapter 8, Cell Reproduction.  
    • CW: Vocab p 151
    • Activity: Using a karyotype to detect genetic disorders
    • HW: Read sec 1 and complete SR (all) p. 153; Take notes on Stages of Mitosis from Sec. 2
Med Technology:: This is a new class for all students who are considering the Medical Strand to study while at NC.  In general, we will use the Biology book chapters on the Human Body as well as Bacteria and Viruses as our hard copy resource. 
  • Thurs., 1/5: Review classification: domains and binomial nomenclature. Begin bacteria study:
    • Discuss/notes: Prokaryotes vs Eukaryotes; Domains vs Kingdoms; directed reading/review p. 347 3 domains
    • CW: Vocab. p. 461
    • Activity: Bacterial shapes - p 463 notes and drawings Fri., : Review classification: domains and binomial nomenclature. Begin bacteria study:
Principles of Engineering: Students will continue their study of bridges that began a week before Christmas mid-term exams.  In addition, we will discuss their participation in the West Point Bridge Building Contest and the Transportation Design Challenge
  • Thurs., 1/5: Discuss bridge types as well as bridge building activity
    • CW: Creating bridges using file folders. 
B Days (Tuesday and Friday)
Multimedia: Students will begin using Audacity to edit audio files.
Med Technology: Research bacterial diseases.  Video:  Typhoid Mary
Honors Biology: Same as A day
