8/9: What's Happening in Class Today?
Wednesday, August 4, 2010
Monday, August 9
Tech Essentials: A class for all freshman students that introduces them to the high school environment as well as the technology needed to succeed. Students will use Google Apps to stay organized as well as share and collaborate with other students and teachers.
Honors Biology: This class is a college-prep class that introduces students to the skills and information needed to succeed in AP Biology as a junior or senior or as a college freshman. Honors Biology is a college preparatory course in biological science. It is designed to challenge high achieving, self-motivated, academically responsible students.
Anatomy and Physiology: A lecture and laboratory course in the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Our study begins with basic terminology; then extends to a survey of the organ systems. Laboratory study is enhanced via microscopic study of tissues, preserved specimens and anatomic models, the use of interactive computer models, and dissection.
Modeling and Simulations: Students will learn about the importance of modeling and simulation to the solution of science and engineering problems, acquire basic modeling and programming skills, enhance their communication skills and apply those skills to understand and reinforce important concepts in mathematics, scientific experimentation and design.
Multimedia Design: The course focuses on using multimedia software programs that will enable students to produce computer-generated art, learn image manipulation, develop websites, and produce short videos using industry-standard multimedia production software. Students are expected to create individual work for end-of-the-year portfolios, produce projects suitable for technology competitions and work as part of a team on various assignments.
