Monday, 3/21: Report cards issued!
A Days (Monday and Thursday)
Honors Biology:We continue our study of ecology by winding up our unit on food webs, symbiosis, and predator-prey relationships. We will end the week looking at three biogeochemical cycles: water; carbon; and nitrogen.
- 3/21: Students will dissect owl pellets in order to make a food web of the animals barn owls eat. In addition, we will look at the different types of predator-prey relationships as well as review symbiotic relationships. HW: Read sec 18.4. Complete SR, p. 374. Complete storyboard for flash animation or PPT custom animation of water, carbon, or nitrogen cycle. (Must be able to complete in one class period.)
- 3/24: Students will use their storyboard to complete flash animation or PPT custom animation.
Medical Tech Essentials:We continue our study of the respiratory system as well as review the test results on the cardiovascular system, and view the videos produced on Second Hand Smoke. We will also begin using Audacity, an audio-editing tool. Students will use Audacity to produce a podcast on a topic related to the Respiratory System.
Modeling and Simulations: Students will complete sections of their technical paper: Abstract; Introduction; and Problem Statement and begin work on their math model.
B Days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday)
Multimedia: Students will begin and complete a project introducing them to the use of MovieMaker. They will use Audacity to record their audio, import their audio into Moviemaker, and add images to tell a story.
Medical Tech Essentials: Same as A days.
Anatomy and Physiology:We continue our study of the nervous system by looking at how the brain functions. We will compare the teenage and adult brains as well as discuss the parts and functions of each.
- Tuesday: Parts of the Brain (PPT). Begin "The Brain" project - a study of the brain and specifically, the teenage brain.
- Wednesday:Review tests on nervous system (part 1). Brain (PPT). Continue brain project
- Friday: Complete brain project and assemble.
