Tuesday, January 5 - Friday, January 8

Welcome back! I hope you all had a great holiday vacation.  We are jumping in to the new semester without a pause or review of old material.  Semester and mid-term grades will be reviewed and all students will be asked to reflect on how to make this next semester better.

We will begin with an "A" week for this new semester.
 
A Days
Honors Biology: 
Students received their mid-term grades after submitting their online test.  Tests will be returned and students given their second nine weeks grades. We begin Chapter 8 with a discussion of chromosomes, what they do, where they are found, and what they are made of.
  • Wednesday: Review mid-term and nine weeks grades.  Discuss chromosomes. CW: Vocab. p. 151.  Discuss karyotypes.  Lab: Karyotypes.  HW: Read Sec. 1, Sec. Rev. p 153, 1-8 (Q&A).
  • Thursday: HW ck; Discuss function of mitosis and stages of the cell cycle. Activity: ID stages of mitosis from online images; CW: SR p 159 1-9
     
Medical Tech Essentials: This new class is meant for students considering a career in the medical field to career opportunities as well as an introduction to human anatomy and physiology.  We will begin our semester with a comparison of bacteria and viruses. Assignments and instructions are available on our Moodle site.
Modeling and Simulations:  We will discuss student projects and what skills need to be reviewed.
B Days
Multimedia: We begin a new semester looking at audio and video basic concepts.  Students will be introduced to vocabulary as well as review some of the new software we will be using
Medical Tech Essentials:  Introduce project one (instructions on Moodle site)
Anatomy and Physiology:Review mid-term and nine week grades. Begin study of human muscular system.
