Monday, 3/28 - Fiday, 4/1

How bad could this week be??? It's the week before our (sort of) spring break and includes April Fool's Day!

A Days (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday)
Honors Biology:Continuing our look at the basics of ecology: levels of organization; producers vs consumers; energy transfer; food chains/food webs/trophic levels; biochemical cycles; predator/prey; succession; and symbiotic relationships.
  • 3/28: View student presentations on predator/prey and symbiotic relationships.  Students who completed storyboards will complete flash or ppt animations. Students not completing storyboards will complete worksheet on biochemical cycles.  HW: study notes - test on Thursday.
  • 3/30: Review successional changes in communities (p. 408-410); Test objectives. HW: Test tomorow
  • 3/31: Test Principles of Ecology. Begin study of biomes.  Students will organize information on terrestrial biomes in a table with the following headings: Biome; Characteristics; Plants; Animals; Other.  Students will OUTLINE the section on Aquatic Biomes. Due: Thursday, 4/7
Medical Tech Essentials: Students will finish any work still needing to be completed on their two videos - Asthma and Second-Hand Smoke.  We will begin our study of the parts and functions of the respiratory system.  Assignments: 1) Vocab, p. 946 (nb); 2) Trace the path of oxygen from the atmosphere to the bloodstream (nb); 3) Draw and label the parts of the respiratory system (Flash); 4) Describe how gases are exchanged in the lungs and transported in the bloodstream (nb and Flash animation) 5) SR p. 950
Modeling and Simulations:  Students are working on their technical paper: Introduction; Problem Statement; and Method of Solution. Students are completing their math model, method of solution (technical paper); and beginning their simulation/visualization.

B Days (Tuesday and Friday)
Multimedia: Students will finish their "Three Words" project and re-work their radio commercials. 
Medical Tech Essentials:  Same as A days.
Anatomy and Physiology:Students will complete their project on the Teenage Brain and submit on Friday.  We will watch two videos, one on the Teenage Brain and the other on the Adult brain.  Notes on the parts and functions of the brain.
  • 3/29: Notes on parts of the brain; work on project.  HW: complete tables and drawings.
  • 4/1: Video on teen and adult brain.  Complete project.
